Who was Joey Bongaarts

The Joey Bongaarts Memorial Scholarship Fund was created as a result of a young man's life being cut short by an accident. Joey was a 21 year old big brother to his sister Jessica, a wonderful son to his mom and dad and to others Joey was a generous, kind, outgoing, lovable young adult and friend.

His friends were of all ages from small children to his grandparents. If Joey knew of someone in need of help he was there. His big smile warmed everyone's heart and you couldn't help but love him.

At River Lanes bowling alley where Joey worked, he gained a fan club, from the ladies on Mondays to the kids he coached on Saturdays. He loved to help people learn to bowl or become a better bowler. He loved a little friendly competition too, especially if it involved a spouse or a parent trying to beat another family member. With the children he went as far as giving his first bowling ball to a little child so he could improve his game.

Joey's family would often hear from others "Oh, we love Joey!" and "What a great son you have" He was the best and by having this scholarship in his memory a piece of Joey can live on through others.

If you didn't get to know Joey, you missed out on a great opportunity. If you did know him, you would know that he would love the idea of helping others with their college education.

I hope if you're reading this you will find a piece of Joey in your heart and be willing to donate your time or a contribution to this effort.

We all appreciate your support and to those who will benefit from our loss, we are grateful for the opportunity to help Joey's name live on.
